Lourdes began as a passion project between mothers and daughters. Actress Catherine Bach (of Dukes of Hazard) and former music executive Ira Dewitt (behind the Saint Candles line) kept hearing similar refrains from their college-aged daughters. Laura Lopez and Natalie Dewitt were suffering a lot of anxiety from the overloaded coursework of their pre-med and pre-law tracks. At the same time, the mothers were experiencing troublesome joint pain and sleep issues. Their natural conclusion was to turn to aromatherapy and CBD. But they kept running into problems.
